Preferred Sands Awarded Certificate of Inclusion into the Texas Conservation Plan

RADNOR, Pa.

Company takes proactive steps to protect the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard

Preferred Proppants, LLC (“Preferred Sands” or “Preferred” or the
“Company”), one of North America’s leading manufacturers and providers
of high-quality sand and innovative proppant technologies, today
announced the Company was awarded a Certificate of Inclusion into the
Texas Conservation Plan (“TCP”) for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (“DSL”).

The Certificate of Inclusion was issued by the Texas Comptroller for
Public Accounts for Preferred’s West Texas sand mines, which are
currently under construction. The proactive initiative comes on the
heels of a comprehensive vetting process in which Preferred sought the
expertise of numerous third party environmental experts – including a
former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service official – to better protect any
environmentally sensitive areas.

“We’re pleased to be part of the TCP efforts. Preferred has a long
history of being leaders in conservation in the areas where we operate.
Whether it’s protecting nesting areas of the piping plover or the least
tern at our Nebraska facility, or the various other species we have
cared for in our many years as a brownfield developer, environmentally
sustainable best practices are part of the fabric of our company
culture,” said Michael O’Neill, founder and CEO.

As the first sand company to file air permits among the slate of current
West Texas projects, Preferred specifically chose locations with the
best sand quality that also had a minimal chance of DSL occurrence. The
Company’s work to be included in the TCP is further evidence of
Preferred going above and beyond what’s necessary to be best-in-class in
the industry around sustainable development.

Established in 2012, the TCP’s goal is to protect DSL habitat while
facilitating continued and uninterrupted economic activity in
the Permian Basin. Preferred’s inclusion into the TCP further solidifies
the Company’s commitment to conservation efforts within the areas in
which it operates.

With strategic plant locations in Arizona, Nebraska and Texas in early
2018, Preferred effectively services oil and gas industry companies
throughout North America and is continuously recognized for its
environmental responsibility and achievements in health and safety.
