Oil Ministry Renews Its Commitment On Application of International Standards in Petroleum Waste Management
The Ministry of Oil and Gas stressed its commitment on application of international standards in the petroleum waste management and laws governing the oil industry in order to achieve environmental safety and protection.
This came at the start of the workshop, which was organized by the General Administration of Environment and Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry of Oil and Gas in collaboration with the Norwegian Agency for Environment within the framework of the Norwegian-Sudanese Protocol in the field of the oil industry's development in
Sudan
, in the presence of the leaderships of the oil and gas sector and the participation of the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Health, Universities and the Sudanese Organization for Standardization and Metrology.
The workshop reviewed the supervisory role of the Ministry of Oil and Gas in the oil fields and monitoring of the activities performed by the companies working in the fields of oil and gas in waste management in accordance with the international and local standards. The workshop aimed to transfer the Norwegian experience in the management and treatment of oil waste and tightening of coordination and cooperation between the ministry and the related parties on waste management in
Sudan
according to the international standards in the oil and gas industry.
The representative of the Norwegian Environment Agency Mrs. Tone the importance of knowledge and awareness on the issues related to the environmental protection at petroleum zones focusing on the domain of waste management, praising the work carried out by the Administration of Environment and Occupational Safety and Health and in the oil areas, pointing out to the importance of cooperation between the Sudanese Ministry of Oil and Gas and the Norwegian Environment Agency.
