Kissel has an educational background in economics and engineering and
began his career as a crude oil trader in the midst of the oil crisis of
the 1970’s. “With more than 35 years experience in the energy sector as
CEO, Director, and Chief Strategy Officer for some of America’s largest
energy and infrastructure organizations, Jeff brings a unique
perspective to EPRINC’s team of policy specialists,” said Puglaresi.
Kissel most recently served as the Executive Director of the Hawaii
Health Connector. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Hawai‘iGAS,
where he grew what started as a small business into a diversified
thriving organization in just five years. He also previously served in
senior roles and led strategy at URS, one of the world’s largest
engineering and construction companies, among other companies.
In addition to his career in the petroleum business, Kissel’s background
in utilities and in the global engineering and construction industry
will give EPRINC the ability to expand its outreach to companies that
must make practical day-to-day decisions on capital expenditures,
business development and risk management strategies involving exposure
to the volatile energy complex.
Active in community and professional organizations, Kissel sits on the
board of directors of Solaray Corporation, Hawaii’s oldest and largest
alternative energy company. He has also served on the National Petroleum
Council and on the Executive Committee of the Hawaii Business
Roundtable. He received his Bachelor’s of Business Administration and
MBA from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, where he was a Rhodes
Scholarship finalist.
The Energy Policy Research Foundation, Inc. (EPRINC) was founded in 1944
