Customers Choose SAP HANA® Cloud Platform to Accelerate Innovation

VIENNA, June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) customers and partners are increasingly adopting SAP HANA® Cloud Platform as the platform as a service for SAP® applications. SAP HANA Cloud Platform helps companies across all industries and lines of business (LOBs) to extend existing on-premise and cloud apps, integrate cloud applications and build entirely new ones.

Companies including Owens-Illinois Inc., ZS Associates Inc., Pacific Drilling Services Inc. and Barry Callebaut have all chosen SAP HANA Cloud Platform to help them innovate in the cloud and embrace digital transformation. This announcement was made at the SAPinsider event taking place in Vienna, Austria, June 20–22.

With the recently announced spring 2016 edition of SAP HANA Cloud Platform featuring new capabilities, partnerships, applications and services, customers and partners are using SAP HANA Cloud Platform to become digital companies.

"Thousands of customers are choosing SAP's platform as a service, SAP HANA Cloud Platform, to extend and integrate their business-critical applications in a dramatically simpler fashion than anything they've ever used before. These organizations are developing real-time applications via SAP HANA Cloud Platform to compete and win in the digital economy," said Steve Lucas, president, Enterprise Platform Group, SAP. "New features in SAP HANA Cloud Platform that support trusted identity management across multiple cloud and on-premise environments, application access governance, a common user experience, and automatic provisioning of business services from our cloud platform enable customers to run their businesses easily and seamlessly, all from their phone with next-generation apps."

Customers Gain Agility and Efficiency with Hybrid Cloud Solutions

SAP's platform-as-a-service offering enables customers to incorporate new cloud functionality with existing on-premise business applications to help meet business requirements faster.

Owens-Illinois, the world's leading glass packaging manufacturer, with operations across 23 countries, integrated a cloud e-invoicing solution built on SAP HANA Cloud Platform with its on-premise SAP ERP application to comply with requirements of the Peruvian tax authority. Owens-Illinois fully complied within a few weeks, enabling the expansion of its Latin America operations.

"Tasked by the Peruvian government to comply with meeting its international electronic invoicing tax and legal requirements, we turned to SAP HANA Cloud Platform and SAP globalization services to help us support this goal in weeks, rather than months," said Rodney Masney, VP of technology service delivery at Owens-Illinois. "The flexibility of the cloud coupled with SAP's integration expertise removed the risk of a lengthy, complex on-premise project and impact to our corporate ERP system. The agility of a hybrid cloud solution has opened our eyes to faster ways of implementing technology."

Extending SAP SuccessFactors® Human Capital Management Solutions to Flexibly React to Workforce Changes

Maintaining data accuracy is key to reducing risk, keeping the best talent and allowing core operating models to change quickly. SAP HANA Cloud Platform enables new functionality in SAP SuccessFactors® solutions to help SAP customers stay on top of change and be able to react quickly to new workforce dynamics.

ZS Associates, a global leader in sales and marketing consulting, outsourcing, technology and software, has extended the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central solution with SAP HANA Cloud Platform by deploying Accenture HR Audit and Compliance as a service. This solution helps to clean data and establish a strong foundation for analytics of its fast- changing workforce. This results in immediate and ongoing data auditing, enabling the team to see errors or missing information in real time. The HR team identifies and corrects about 5 percent of all employee records each week as part of their regular use of the system, which has resulted in improved headcount forecasting and more targeted recruiting.

"Accenture HR Audit and Compliance on SAP HANA Cloud Platform provides an excellent app for accessing SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central," said Julie Billingsley, principal, ZS Associates. "It helps us address our data quality quickly and efficiently."

Mobile Deployment of SAP On-Premise Apps for Real-Time Work Anywhere

SAP HANA Cloud Platform helps modernize customers' existing applications by quickly and easily making apps, data and business processes accessible and actionable on mobile devices.

Pacific Drilling, a global ultra-deepwater oil and gas drilling service provider, is delivering mobile SAP Fiori® apps to its remote workers to replace portal-based applications. On average the company has realized 75 percent shorter timelines, from two months to two weeks, to deliver new mobile-based apps.

"Our team is tasked with enabling operational excellence," said Yoram Borodaty, IT director, Enterprise Applications, at Pacific Drilling Services Inc., Pacific Drilling S.A. "With mobile service for SAP Fiori that runs on SAP HANA Cloud Platform, we can deliver beautiful apps much faster that provide our management team the tools they need to run a global business more effectively."

Innovative Ways of Working with Farmers in the Supply Chain

SAP Rural Sourcing Management is an integrated, cloud-based solution running on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. It combines mobile and desktop access to track produce from farm to factory. The introduction of mobile business apps provides farmer organizations access to important data immediately to help simplify and digitize business processes.

Barry Callebaut, the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, chose SAP to help enable sustainable cocoa farming. With solutions from SAP, Barry Callebaut has already integrated 65,000 small-scale cocoa farmers in Côte d'Ivoire and will include many more all over the world. This will create a stronger, more sustainable supply chain and at the same time improve the livelihood of farmers, their families and their communities.
