ClearPath Action Fund Touts Stefanik's Clean Energy Agenda

New mail campaign defends her environmental record against misleading attacks

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ClearPath Action Fund is ramping up its spending and issuing a new mail campaign to combat misleading attacks from liberal groups regarding Rep. Elise Stefanik's clean energy and environmental record.

"Elise Stefanik has the voting record of a true Clean Energy and Environmental Champion. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise," notes the mailer being distributed district-wide starting next week.

The new mail campaign will boost ClearPath Action Fund's overall spending backing Stefanik this election to well more than $150,000.

Sierra Club and others are attacking Stefanik by using voting scorecards issued by the League of Conservation Voters that have become partisan tools rather than objective measures of clean energy and environmental support. They don't include (and even penalize) votes supporting such carbon-free resources as advanced nuclear and hydropower and are often an irrelevant and counterproductive benchmark for judging serious and practical action on clean energy.

The mail campaign highlights nine of the actions Stefanik took in her first Congress to quickly begin distinguishing herself as a Republican clean energy leader. She cosponsored the Carbon Capture Act, which would boost and make permanent a key incentive for carbon-capturing technologies, and supported increased funding for the ARPA-E program to elevate advanced clean energy.

The New York Republican showcased her independence in staunchly defending her district's Fort Drum biomass plant, including taking a stand against an amendment that would undermine alternative energy sources used by the military. She was also one of the original supporters of a House resolution acknowledging "the consequences of a changing climate" and citing the responsibility of Congress to identify and support "economically viable, and broadly supported private and public solutions."

Since endorsing her in June, ClearPath Action Fund has touted her clean energy record through an innovative, six-figure campaign run by Anthro and featured on many digital networks, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, SpotX and 4info.
