"A clean energy leader like Jennifer is an enormous asset to our board," said Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint. "She was incredibly successful in attracting clean energy innovation, new jobs and other investment to the State of Michigan as governor. Her expertise working with diverse stakeholders will help us expand EV charging infrastructure nationwide and reduce reliance on fossil fuels for transportation."

The first woman to be elected governor of Michigan, Granholm led the state through a difficult economic downturn by diversifying the economy, creating new jobs, improving education options and facilitating partnerships between industry, government and research entities. In her two terms as governor, she focused on making Michigan a clean-energy hub, creating efficient supply chains and promoting battery manufacturing, bio-energy, solar and wind power initiatives in the state. Her efforts attracted substantial investment and helped Michigan lead the U.S. in job market improvement between 2009 and 2010.

"Clean energy and the environment are personally important to me and vital for the future of our planet. Driving electric is a smart and sustainable choice, especially when charging stations are powered by renewable energy," said former Gov. Granholm. "I'm excited to work with ChargePoint to transform transportation with sustainable EV charging infrastructure that will make it possible for more people to move away from fossil fuels."

Granholm is currently a professor of law and public policy at UC Berkeley, senior research fellow at the Berkeley Energy and Climate Institute, project scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, senior advisor to Correct the Record, ABC News contributor and senior partner on energy policy for the Hillary for America campaign. She is an honors graduate of UC Berkeley and Harvard Law School.
