Oct. 31-- Oct. 31--Georgia imported 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $200.8 million from Azerbaijan from January through September of this year, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
On an annualized basis, gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 7 percent.
In the reporting period, Georgia imported 122.8 million tons of oil and oil products for $67.7 million from Azerbaijan. The volume of imported oil and oil products increased by 4.4 million tons, or 3.7 percent year-on-year.
Azerbaijan is the fourth trade partner of Georgia with 8.2 percent share in its trade turnover following Turkey, Russia and China.
In the reporting period, Georgia's export to Azerbaijan amounted to $355.1 million, up 4 percent from the previous year. Azerbaijan's share in Georgia's export operations was 13.1 percent, and Azerbaijan became the second larger export partner of Georgia following Russia.
Azerbaijan's import to Georgia declined by 0.9 percent to $399.7 million. The country became the fourth import partner in Georgia with the share of 6.2 percent, following Turkey, Russia and China.
Georgia's total foreign trade turnover made up $9.1 billion, up 0.5 percent from 2018. Export rose by 11.1 percent to $2.7 billion, while import dropped by 3.3 percent to $6.7 billion.
Georgia is a key transit country for Azerbaijan, through which Azerbaijan's main pipelines are laid for the supply of oil and gas to the West. For instance, the Baku-Supsa and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipelines pass through the neighboring country.
