This week’s Baker Hughes rig count shows that U.S. numbers declined by 5, resulting in the total count falling to 851. Canada decreased over last week as well by 3 rigs, resulting in a total Canadian count of 143.

Breakdown by region
Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, only two regions saw an increase; the Permian basin saw an increase of 1 rig this week, from 421 to 422, along with the DJ-Niobrara increase of 1 rig this week, from 21 to 22
Meanwhile, only 2 regions experienced a decrease this week:
- The Cana Woodford is at 30, down 3 from last week.
- The Marcellus is at 44, down 3 from last week.
All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
