OPEC crude basket rises to $36.36

Vienna

, Mar18 (EFE).- The basket of crude oil used as a benchmark indicator by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, went up to $36.36, the OPEC Secretariat said on Friday.

OPEC said the price of its basket, which includes 13 varieties of crude, increased by 5.3 percent on Thursday, compared with the closing price of the previous session.

This sharp increase came after OPEC announced it will meet with other producing countries on April 17 in

Doha

to discuss the proposal not to further raise production in order to stabilize prices.

April delivery of Brent crude opened at $41.51 a barrel at the start of Friday's trading on the futures market, with a rise of 0.31 percent from the previous session's close. EFE
