Greensmith Energy Continues to Build Momentum as Energy Storage Industry Goes Commercial

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Dec 31, 2015) - Greensmith Energy, a leading provider of advanced energy storage software and integration services, announced the successful completion of five major grid-scale system deliveries in 2015. This milestone comes on the heels of the 2014 announcement, when Greensmith delivered over one-third of all energy storage capacity installed in the U.S.

All five systems leveraged Greensmith's proven GEMS4 software platform, supporting a wide range of applications including frequency regulation, distribution deferral and island micro-grid in such locations as California, Ohio and Puerto Rico. Greensmith provided the full array of design, integration, software and installation services -- for both utility and "behind-the-meter" deployments.

"Energy storage is becoming increasingly important to help strengthen the reliability and flexibility of the grid and integrate more renewable power onto the system," said Phillip Grigsby, senior vice president for Commercial Transmission at Duke Energy. "We are pleased to have partnered with Greensmith to support our Ohio Beckjord project, an innovative storage solution that provides tangible benefits to the grid operator and local customers."

Ranked as the fastest growing company in the energy storage industry by Inc. 5000 and the 7th fastest growing in the energy sector, Greensmith expanded its business operations earlier this year with a new state-of-the art facility in Herndon, Virginia to accommodate growth and technology development.

"Greensmith brings a technology advantage to our customers that begins with a proven software platform capable of supporting seven use-case applications out of the box -- but it doesn't end there," said John Jung, Greensmith President & CEO. "Our growing body of grid-scale experience anchored by a highly scalable technology architecture resulted in the delivery of the largest 2015 systems in under 6 months. Our customers are looking to capture the benefits of energy storage quickly and this speed-to-market advantage will provide yet another point of differentiation."
